Broadchurch Is Renamed For FOX US Remake

Broadchurch will have a new name when it is remade for American TV next year. It has been confirmed today that FOX will produce the new series under the title Gracepoint.

David Tennant has been confirmed in the lead, playing a character based on that of DI Alec Hardy in the original UK version. This time round, however, his character will be American. Chris Chibnall, the creator of the award winning UK series, is writing the first episode of the ten-part drama and will be executive producing. Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein are also on board as executive producers and showrunners. The show will also be executive produced by Shine America's Carolyn Bernstein and Jane Featherstone from drama producer Kudos.

Gracepoint goes into production in late January 2014 and is expected to air as part of the 2014/15 season

Chris Chibnall will also be writing and executive producing the second series of Broadchurch for the UK. So far no cast or plot details have been announced. Production is thought to be scheduled for late spring 2014.
