VIDEO: David Tennant Appears On Channel 4 News

David Tennant was interviewed this evening on Channel 4 News from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon,where he is currently performing in the lead role in Richard II. On Wednesday 13th, the play will be streamed to cinemas across the UK and worldwide in the Royal Shakespeare Company's first ever live theatre broadcast.

The idea of the broadcast, he explained, was that it would be like coming to the cinema to share the live experience of being in the theatre audience.

David explains that his motivation for performing Shakespeare is entirely selfish. "I love doing these plays, " he said, "I don't come because I want to proselytise about Shakespeare."

David talked about about the amount of violence in TV drama, with reference to his current BBC Series The Escape Artist. He also had some sound advice for up and coming actors.

"If somebody brings you a cup of tea, " he said, "You say thank you. Rather than 'It's not warm enough'."
