What We Did On Our Holiday: David Tennant's "Best Big Screen Performance To Date"

Brian Ferguson of The Scotsman has described the new BBC Films comedy What We Did On Our Holiday as one of the best British films of the year and says that it represents possibly the best big screen performances to date by its stars David Tennant and Billy Connolly.

The bittersweet comedy, due to be released in September, also stars Ben Miller, Rosamund Pike, Celia Imrie, Annette Crosbie and Amelia Bullmore, and is the work of Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, the creative team behind such comedy hits as Outnumbered and Drop The Dead Donkey.

However, Ferguson also queries why the movie was not screened at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and was instead only shown at a number of private screenings around the UK.
"The question is why an unashamedly Scottish film, with a cast brimming with leading Scottish and British actors, was not part of the UK’s longest-running film festival," he asks.

David Tennant Signs Broadchurch Script For Charity Auction

David Tennant makes a welcome return to radio drama this afternoon as part of the cast of The Great Scott, a new trio of dramatisations of the works of Sir Walter Scott.

The three new tales will be broadcast as part of the Classic Serial strand on BBC Radio Four. As in the previous three episodes broadcast last year, David narrates as the author himself, Walter Scott. The first episode is The Bride Of Lammermoor and can be heard at 3pm BST on Sunday 29th June.

David Tennant At Wimbledon Today

David Tennant was one of many celebrities attending Centre Court at Wimbledon today to watch the Men's Singles match between Rafael Nadal and Mikhail Kukushkin.

The middle Saturday of Wimbledon fortnight is traditionally attended by stars of sport as well as familiar faces from stage, screen and music. The Royal Box today was packed with sporting heroes, including Sir Bobby Charlton, David Beckham, Tom Daley, Bradley Wiggins and Paralympians Kelly Gallagher and Charlotte Evans, who sat alongside members of the military who attended in honour of Armed Forces Day. Other attendees included Sir Patrick Stewart and Countdown's Rachel Riley.

Despite losing the first set, Nadal recovered to win a place in the final sixteen.

David Tennant briefly appeared on the BBC One coverage of the match where he was described as "...a very fine actor." Seated in the stands rather than the Royal Box, David looked elegant in a grey suit and purple tie and sporting a beard for his role as Bro…

What We Did On Our Holiday Set To Be One Of The High Profile UK Films Of The Year

Scottish newspaper The Scotsman is predicting great things for the new black comedy What We Did On Our Holiday when it is released in the UK this autumn. It is expected to be one of the most high profile British films of the year, mainly due to the star-studded cast: Billy Connolly stars as the eccentric septuagenarian Gordy with David Tennant and Ben Miller as his two sons Doug and Gavin. Other cast includes Rosamund Pike, Celia Imrie, Annette Crosbie and Amelia Bullmore, with a trio of rising child stars in Harriet Turnbull, Bobby Smalldridge and Emilia Jones. The film has since been sold around the world to screen in territories including Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia and Israel.

The movie also boasts an excellent creative team, being written and directed by the award winning pair Guy Jenkin and and Andy Hamilton, the creators of the BBC sitcom Outnumbered.

USA: The Escape Artist Now Available Via iTunes

The tense courtroom drama, The Escape Artist is now available for American fans to buy via iTunes. 

The drama starring David Tennant is available to download as three separate hour long episodes, as it originally aired in the UK, rather than the two 90 minute episodes broadcast by PBS in the USA. Episodes cost $2.99 each for HD, and $1.99 in SD. There is also the option to purchase the whole season at $7.99 HD or $4.99 SD: this bundle also includes an interview with David Tennant.

VIDEO: David Tennant Talks Cybermen And Roger Lloyd-Pack

The Space Channel in Canada have posted an extract from David Tennant's interview with Teddy Wilson which was aired on InnerSpace last Friday. The interview also screened in cinemas in the USA last week as part of the Doctor Who + Wings event along with the second series adventure Rise Of The Cybermen / The Age Of Steel. 
David and Teddy met up earlier this year in Victoria, BC where David was filming Gracepoint, the ten part remake of Broadchurch for Fox TV. They chatted about David's time playing the Tenth Doctor and his memories of filming the story which brought the Cybermen back to a brand new audience of Doctor Who fans.
In the extract David talks about his co-star, the late Roger Lloyd-Pack. USA: Postman Pat The Movie With David Tennant Opens In The US Today!

Postman Pat: The Movie, the 3D animated feature based on the popular UK kids' character opens today in the USA. The BBC character has been popular with pre-schoolers in the UK and around the world who have been absorbed by the adventures of the friendly village postman and his black and white cat Jess since his debut in 1981.

The movie, which features the voices of Stephen Mangan as Pat, David Tennant as Wilf, Rupert Grint as Josh and Ronan Keating as Pat's singing voice, has been aquired by Shout! Factory for US distribution, and the nationwide release begins with openings in selected cinemas in New York and Los Angeles today.

David Tennant's Virgin Media Commercial Tops Most Recalled Ad List

Virgin Media's new Power Drive commercial starring David Tennant has topped the Top 10 list of most recalled TV adverts for this week. The ad which promotes Virgin Media's new flexible Big Bundles features David at the wheel of a tiny bubble car which then transforms to a big American muscle car at the flick of a switch, and then again to a luxury tour bus kitted out with all of the latest Virgin Media goodies.

Ad recalling is a test of marketing effectiveness based upon how memorable an advert is. Participants are shown TV spots and then asked to recall details of the campaign at a later point. The greater the recall, the more effective the campaign is deemed to be.

The Virgin ad, created by BBH, outperformed current campaigns by Subway, Argos and Funkypigeon.com.

Rosamund Pike Talks Bonding With Co Star David Tennant For What We Did On Our Holiday

Rosamund Pike has been chatting to the Daily Mail about how she likes to get to know her co stars before she begins work with them on a project and she has spoken about how she and David Tennant bonded with each other and their on screen children on a day out at Chessington World Of Adventures before filming on their new movie, What We Did On Our Holiday, began.

"It was a bonding day," Rosamund said of the trip she and David took with their young co stars - Emilia Jones, Bobby Smalldridge and Harriet Turnbull. She added "We had a lovely, but quite difficult day," mostly because David was apparently mobbed by fans as the group explored the zoo and went on rides.

In What We Did On Our Holiday David and Rosamund play a warring couple going through a terrible divorce who travel, with their three young children, from their home in London to Scotland to celebrate the children's grandfather's birthday.

Gracepoint star Kendrick Sampson spoke about the upcoming FOX TV series from the red carpet of the 5th Annual Thirst Project Gala on Tuesday. He explained that the ten part event series would differ from the UK series Broadchurch upon which it is based, and expressed his admiration for his co-stars, especially David Tennant.



Gracepoint follows the investigation into the murder of a local boy in a quiet seaside town in California. It explores the impact that the event has on the immediate family and their friends and neighbours as the pressures of police and press scrutiny and local suspicions and paranoia threaten to tear the little community apart. David Tennant stars as Detective Emmett Carver with Anna Gunn as Detective Ellie Miller.
Gracepoint will première as part of the Fall 2014 season on Thursday nights on Fox.

Gracepoint Star Kendrick Sampson On The Plot Changes And David Tennant's Accent

Gracepoint star Kendrick Sampson has spoken about his new drama series Gracepoint and working with co-star David Tennant. Kendrick was talking during his appearance yesterday the 5th annual Thirst Project Gala, hosted by Jennifer Garner. He confirmed that while the plot of the upcoming FOX TV ten-part event series would have similarities to Broadchurch, the UK drama upon which it is based, it also includes enough differences to make it worth watching.

"They've changed the ending. Especially in episode four and before, there are some strong twists that will keep people watching and entertained. It's got a different take. It follows the story kind of closely but it takes some dramatic twists," explained Kendrick, who plays Dean Iverson in the drama, boyfriend to Chloe, the murder victim's sister (in Broadchurch the equivalent character was Dean Thomas, played by Jacob Anderson).

The Doctor And Rose's Farewell In Doomsday Tops SciFi Poll

The tearjerking farewell between the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler, played by David Tennant and Billie Piper has topped a list of the greatest ever sci-fi and fantasy moments as voted for by fans.

The poll was conducted by SFX magazine, who asked their readers to decide the top 250 greatest sci-fi and fantasy scenes from a long list deriving from classics of TV, film, comics and literature. The full list features in the magazine's celebratory 250th issue, in stores from tomorrow.

The scene which topped the poll appeared at the end of the second series of the revived Doctor Who. With Rose trapped in a parallel dimension, the Doctor manages to harness the power from a supernova to appear to her to say what they believed at the time to be their final goodbyes.

VIDEO: David Tennant And Anna Gunn Talk About Gracepoint At The Fox TV Upfront

David Tennant and Anna Gunn, the stars of the upcoming Fox TV drama Gracepoint were interviewed on the red carpet together when they appeared at the Fox TV Upfront to promote the series back in May. A video clip posted by AP Archive features a clip of them explaining how the series differs to the UK show Broadchurch on which it is based.

"He’s the same but different. He fills the same hole in the story," David says of his character Detective Emmett Carver, the American equivalent of DI Alec Hardy which he also played in Broadchurch.

"It’s a different incarnation. It very much stays true to the story that was originally told in Broadchurch, but it does have its differences," adds Anna Gunn, who plays Detective Ellie Miller in Gracepoint.
