The filming of the new series of Broadchurch and the return of David Tennant and Olivia Colman on set gets some coverage in today's new issue of the TV Times.

The third and final series is expected to air in the UK at the beginning of next year and it will see a brand new storyline as Hardy and Miller are reunited to investigate a serious sexual assault. The programme makers spent a year researching with Dorset-based organisations who specialise in dealing with victims of sexual assault, and police advisors who specialise in investigating crimes of sexual violence. Chris Chibnall has received advice from two of Dorset's specialist sexual assault advice and support agencies throughout the writing process. Broadchurch’s final chapter looks at the emotional cost to all of those involved and the irreparable damage to friendships and relationships.

AUDIO: Russell T Davies On David Tennant "He's Steeped In Wisdom"

Image
Russell T Davies, the creative force behind BBC One's new production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, paid a visit to Salford's MediaCity yesterday to chat about the play with Kirsy Wark for BBC Radio 4's Front Row. Russell confirmed that he turned to an obvious advisor while working on the project: Tenth Doctor and Royal Shakespeare Company actor David Tennant.

"We did talk a lot about it together actually because he's steeped in wisdom on all these things," he said.

Sadly David wasn't available to take a role in the production, although Russell would have loved to have included him.

"I would have cast him as anything, but he's busy. He's got this career going on - I don't know who would employ him, basically," he joked. "But sadly he wasn't free to become a faery in the forest. We managed without him."

Listen to Russell's whole interview here.

A Midsummer Night's Dream will air on BBC One on Monday 30th May at 8.3…

AUDIO: David Tennant Guest Stars In The This Week In Marvel Podcast

Image
David Tennant visted Marvel HQ in New York a few weeks ago to record a special edition of the This Week In Marvel podcast. In conversation with regular podcast hosts Ryan Penagos and Blake Garris, David talked about his starring role in Marvel's Jessica Jones, his love of the comics while growing up and his future projects.

On knowing very little about what to expect as Kilgrave :
"It was a bit of a gamble...I was really going on the quality of the writing"

On his favourite Marvel characters while growing up:
"I used to get Spiderman & Hulk...you'd get four or five pages of Spiderman and four or five pages of the Hulk and then She-Hulk and Spiderwoman. So I suppose those characters, Im a big fan of all four of them."

On his own artistic endeavours, aged 10:
"I found, not long ago, a comic book I'd made myself based on a lot of the panels I'd clearly copied very religiously, a little A5 shaped Hulk comic book, 'The Hulk Vs. The Mudman"

Russell T Davies Reveals He Called On 'Shakespeare Expert' David Tennant For Inspiration On A Midsummer Night's Dream

Russell T Davies has revealed to the Radio Times that he called upon David Tennant to help inspire him for his new BBC One production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Talking in the new issue, which is released tomorrow, he tells the magazine:
“When I embarked on this production, I scrolled down my phone to seek the advice of the greatest expert in Shakespeare I know, David Tennant," says Davies. When you see the gag with Bernard Cribbins and a handpump, that’s copyright DT.”
