David Tennant Supports The #ItsNotOK Campaign With The Survivors Trust

David Tennant has given his support to the It's Not OK campaign and the launch of 2017's Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week. While attending the premiere screening for the new series of Broadchurch last week, David joined Sarah Cheadle, Communications & Media Officer at The Survivors Trust to promote this year's national campaign which runs from February 6th - 12th.

Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week was set up to give the public, statutory organisations and partner agencies the opportunity to voice their opinions and participate in a discussion about sexual abuse and sexual violence. The campaign uses the social media hashtag #itsnotok to promote an open discussion, raising awareness about sexual abuse and sexual violence and how to prevent it in the UK.

Broadchurch Series 3
David Tennant returns as Alec Hardy in the third and final series of Broadchurch, beginning on Monday 27th February on ITV. In the new series, DI Hardy reunites with DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) to investigate a serious sexual assault. The series explores the impact of the event, not only on the assaulted person, Trish Winterman (Julie Hesmondalgh) but also on her family, friends and the wider community. Broadchurch series creator Chris Chibnall received support and advice from The Shores (Dorset’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre) and Dorset Rape Crisis throughout writing the scripts for this series.

The Survivors Trust is a national umbrella agency for over 140 specialist providers with the common aim of supporting and empowering those who have experienced rape, sexual violence or childhood sexual abuse at any point in their lives. Find out more about their work here.
