Following its world premiere in Glasgow earlier this month, David Tennant's latest film project Mad To Be Normal will be screening as part of the Belfast Film Festival tonight.
The screening takes place at the Queen's Film Theatre at 9.15pm and tickets are available here.
The movie is based on the story of world-renowned Scottish psychiatrist RD Laing who opened a unique anti-psychiatry community at Kingsley Hall, East London, during the 1960s to offer medication-free treatment to people diagnosed with mental illness. His revolutionary methods involved experimenting with LSD on his patients and practicing a form of self-healing known as metanoia, causing outrage and controversy in the medical profession and radically changing attitudes and perceptions of mental health around the world.
David Tennant stars as Laing alongside Michael Gambon, Elisabeth Moss and Gabriel Byrne, The film was written and directed by Robert Mullan.
The Belfast Film Festival began in 1995 as part of Féile An Phobail and has developed hand in hand with the evolving culture of film patronage and filmmaking in the city. Now in its 17th year, the programme includes site-specific screenings, special events and awards.
