Mad To Be Normal is coming to David Tennant's hometown of Paisley as part of this year's Spree Festival. David stars in the new film based on the life of the notorious Scottish psychiatrist R D Laing which premiered in Glasgow on 26th February this year.

Presented in partnership with Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, Mad To Be Normal reveals the story of R D Laing, the famous
psychiatrist and one of Scotland’s greatest ever minds. Working out of Kingsley Hall in East London during the late
1960s and early 1970s, Laing was daring in his treatment of schizophrenia. His
revolutionary methods caused outrage and controversy in the medical profession
and radically changed attitudes and perceptions of mental health around the
world. The film also stars Elisabeth Moss, Michael Gambon and Gabriel Byrne and was written and directed by Robert Mullan.
The screening will be followed by a discussion on issues
raised by the film.
The Spree Festival, Paisley's national festival, runs from 13th - 22nd October with a lineup that includes musc, film and comedy. Paolo Nutini tops the musical bill with a gig at Paisley Abbey on October 20th, while some of the best comedians in Scotland take over the Spiegeltent for a pair of comedy showcases.
